Acknowledgement of paternity gives father's parental rights

For any number of reasons, couples may choose to have a child while forgoing marriage. And often, the father may have a strong desire to have a close relationship with the child. Such arrangements are not uncommon, but there can be questions as to how to establish legal paternity.

How are interstate child custody arrangements determined?

Sometimes when a married couple splits, one of the spouses may want to relocate to another state. Since a divorce often occurs after a great deal of stress and conflict, such a move could provide a sense of relief and even a new lease on life. But if the divorcing couple has children, issues can arise if the custodial parent wants to move out of state.

Jurisdiction determines where military couples may divorce

There is no doubt that the men and women who chose to serve their country in the armed forces make tremendous sacrifices. Their families must also contend with circumstances that may prove difficult. A military life can be one of frequent moving for the family and extended periods away from home for the service member. As such, sometimes military couples may find it hard to maintain a healthy marriage.
